This has been the weirdest year. We moved to St George in August. Maybe just for the school year. We made this decision at the last minute to put our kids in "real school" and to save money since Mike was laid off at the beginning of Covid - in March.
I could never have imagined the crazy way that my beloved country of the USA would handle this pandemic. The president left it up to each state's governing leaders to decide how to handle their state during Covid. Utah and California are like 2 different countries in this regard. California has just been told by the governor that they must go into lockdown again. Businesses and people are struggling in California so much whereas in Utah people and businesses are thriving. Yet the numbers of cases of the virus in both states are pretty much the same. It breaks my heart to see what people are going through in "blue" states in the U.S. Yet "red" states have the same virus and are thriving.
It was a hard decision to move here and now, just a few months later, we definitely did the right thing. Our kids have adjusted so well with great attitudes and I'm so proud of their resilience this year. Christmas is coming up and we're getting excited and trying hard not to spend as much money as in previous years.
Mike has started his own company with 2 other old colleagues from Feld. Our biggest hope right now a is that this new business takes off! crossing fingers and saying lots of prayers!
